The Future Denaways

Sometimes, the best things happen when you're least expecting them. For us, it was the cusp of a new decade—New Year's Eve 2020. The year 2021 was looming, and little did Lain and Brendon know that the midnight countdown wouldn't just be a celebration of a new year but the start of their own beautiful chapter. A mutual friend was having a New Year's Eve party. Lain was already at the house party, surrounded by all her high school and college friends, just waiting for the ball to drop. On the flip side, a mutual friend had called Brendon to tell him that Lain was at this party. With a dog-sitting night only planned, he got up, got dressed, and drove to the party. This wouldn't have been the first time they met, but the first time they knew there could be something more than a friendship. When Brendon arrived at the party, he walked down the stairs and, what seemed like, directly to Lain. Immediately, there was a connection. When the clock struck midnight, Brendon twirled Lain around and pulled her in for a kiss. After hanging out all night, Brendon asked Lain, "What are you doing Monday?" and the rest was history. The First Few Dates: Into the New Year As fireworks faded and the holiday rush settled, the story began to unfold. Lain and Brendon found a comforting constant in each other. Their first date consisted of Brendon picking her up, driving to Raising Cane's, taking it back to his house, meeting his mom, and hanging out. They did that every day until Winter Break was over. When it was time for B to go back to Hope College and Lain to go back to Ball State, they knew this was worth the long distance. They weren't even officially dating... Even though Lain wanted to. On January 29th, B made the drive down to Ball State just to ask Lain to be his girlfriend, and of course, she said yes. Building a Life Together: The Middle Years As the months turned into years, their bond only grew stronger, fueled by shared laughter, endless support, and a whole lot of love. We became each other's favorite person and best friend. After doing long distance and spending the summer together, Brendon officially transferred to Ball State, and they were able to be together again. Two more years at Ball State, then B graduated and got his first official corporate job! A few months later, Lain graduated and was waiting for a job to line up. Within that waiting period, they moved to Carmel, IN, together. Living with your best friend makes life so fun, and that's exactly what Lain and Brendon are. They love to binge-watch TV shows together, support each other's hobbies, hang out with their friends and families, and do the mundane life things together. Together, they are one in the same. Lain and Brendon can be themselves when together, but what makes them work is Brendon's calmness to Lain's mind, and Lain can bring out the silliness in Brendon. Fun fact- Lain was in the hospital one time with chest pains and a high heart rate. When Brendon walked into the room, her heart rate actually lowered. You could see it happen on the monitor!! The Next Chapter: The Engagement On September 27th, 2025, Brendon popped the biggest question yet! It was an incredible moment that officially set them on the path to forever. The proposal happened in Carmel and was planned by Brendon and Lain's friends. It was supposed to be a photoshoot with some friends, but it turned out it was a surprise proposal instead! The surprises didn't stop there. Brendon surprised her with an engagement shoot following the proposal, both their families joining them at dinner, and an engagement party with both friends and family. The day consisted of pure shock, overwhelming joy, amazement, excitement, and love. Now, we can't wait to celebrate the start of our forever with all of you!
