I'VE NEVER BEEN TO AN INDIAN WEDDING.WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

Indian weddings are very festive and colorful. We would love if everyone can partake in the experience and wear traditional clothing like a saree or lehenga for women and Kurta for men but obviously, there is no pressure or expectation. WHAT COLORS SHOULD WE NOT WEAR?

Answer

Guests can wear any color they prefer, but it is best to avoid wearing anything black as it is considered bad luck for the couple. It is also best to avoid red/blue as that's the traditional color of the bride's dress for the ceremony.

THATS A SUPER EARLY WEDDING? 8:30 AM?

Answer

South Indian weddings are comparatively early as they are filled with multiple traditions and rituals. In addition to this, we wanted to combine all traditions in a single day. Don't you worry, there will be an early lunch. Then you'll have the entire afternoon and evening to go and rest.

Unfortunately no but he'll still make an entrance with a fancy car ;)

WHERE SHOULD GUESTS PARK? IS PARKING FREE?

Answer

For the Sangeeth & Champagne party, There is ample of street parking. Guests can also part at the Warm springs BART station ( guests will have to pay $3.00 for Daily parking at BART station). For Wedding at ICC, There is a huge parking lot inside ICC and ample of street parking outside the venue. Guests staying at the Embassy suits can walk to the venue.

WHAT IS SANGEET?

Answer

The word “sangeet“ means music, but when it is used as a term to describe a celebratory event during an Indian wedding it translates to music night. The sangeet is a bright celebration of the couple's union and the bonding of both families. It is here that both sides bring down their barriers and mingle in a fun environment. Expect lots of drinks, music, and dance performances plus an open dance floor!

All part of the plan! Typical groom wedding attire for a Tam-Bram wedding is a ceremonial 'Angavastram' that is draped loosely across the shoulder and 'Panchakacham' below the waist.
