We meet at our mutual friends' BBQ over a game of yard Jenga. I was intrigues by his looks and confidence in playing the games. He saved me from being beat by the pre-teens. We talked a little, but no number exchange. At work the next week, I inquired about who his was. Asked for his number and after a month of butterflies and hesitation, I finally reached out. He responded back to my text and the love story began!
Our first date took place at Olive Garden. Boy was I nervous! We talked, laughed, and ate. When we finally checked the time, it had been over 3 hours! The waitress was great and keep smiling at us as we smiled at each other. It didn't seem like hours, it felt like minutes. As he walked me to my car he said, "We should do this again." I grinned a wide grin and nodded yes. And we have been sharing hours on end together every since July 30, 2017!
Easter Sunday! While the children received easter bunnies, I got my easter hunny! I got dressed in my pretty Easter dress and went to church with Chris on my arm. After church we had plans to find a place to eat. But, I had messed up the proposal plans that were in the works by suggesting that we take my car to church. (The ring was hidden in his car) So the best excuse to get back to the car was a suggestion of changing our clothes before dinner. But, only I changed. I should have known something was up. As he assists me into the car, his nerves got the best of him and he closed my hand in the car door! It was not serious, just a little sore. I believe hunger was taking this place of pain. We made several attempts to go to favorites places to dine, but kept running into long waiting lines. Finally, I suggested a diner that we once had a good meal at and he agreed. There was no wait, so we were seated and received our meal. He bought up our great times and most memorable dates. We laughed and talked. Then he popped the question!. In a diner of all the places that he promised to never propose! And here I am in a t-shirt and jeans!!! But I still said yes.....after a long pause of pure disbelief that I was going to marry my best friend!
