It was a hot summer day, and the only remedy was a pool, namely the pool at an unassuming apartment complex in Mission, Kansas that happened to have a somewhat lax policy on guests. It was there that serendipity struck in 4 ft of chlorine, and Brian asked Deidre to go out for dinner later that week. The next Wednesday, Deidre showed up fashionably late to Louie's Wine Dive and was pleased to find Brian owned more than swimming trunks. Conversation was easy, laughs were frequent, and the food was much better than it is now.
It was no accident when Brian (briefly) went down on one knee when he did and where he did. A man with a plan, Brian asked Deidre’s dad, Terry, for her hand in marriage in December 2017 and then enlisted the help of his sister-in-law, Sierra of Sierra Winter Jewelry, to design the perfect ring. Also around this time, Deidre began to ask Brian if he wanted to look at rings, if he wanted to know what she liked, etc., to which Brian would respond, “oh, don’t worry about it.” Easy for you to say. So, on March 3, 2018, when Brian turned to Deidre beside a pool in Las Terrenas, Dominican Republic and asked, “Will you marry me?”, Deidre was a bit surprised and said, “Really?!” Brian then took a knee for a second (imagine a kick-off returner kneeling in the endzone) and asked again which must have been convincing enough for Deidre to say, “Yes!”
