We met on Match in January 2024, and from our very first conversation, it felt easy — filled with genuine laughter, real connection, and that rare comfort that just feels right. Within days, we met up at Cypress Mall and spent hours walking, laughing, and feeling like old friends. By the end of that night, we both knew something rare had begun. As a full-time caregiver for my disabled father, my life sometimes calls for grace in the hardest situations. One evening, early in the days of us getting to know one another, I saw Kevin’s heart in a way that few people ever show. I faced an overwhelming situation in caregiving and Kevin happened to be on his way over for a date night. Meeting him outside, I tried to warn him of what had just occurred, nervous and flustered, but he simply said, “Come on, let me see...” Without hesitation or judgment, he stepped right in- helping manage all that needed to be handled at that moment so that I could tend to my dad. His calmness, quiet strength, compassion and willingness to help without question or wavering spoke volumes. As our relationship grew, our weekends together became a cherished ritual. We enjoyed walking through local farmer’s markets, supporting area shops filled with local finds, strolling parks, enjoying resturants, and attending Sunday services - we found a kind of laughter and blossoming love that made time slow down. Fast forward to October 31, 2025. We were having dinner at Porter’s in College Station with family and as we waited for the check, the song “Matrimony” by Wale began to play—one of my favorites. The server handed me a “dessert menu,” and as I read through it, the written words began to register... it was a proposal. At the bottom, I read the sweetest words: "Will you marry me?" Now, this Midwestern girl and Houston native are planning a “Southern Charm meets Midwest Heart” wedding at Jubilee Ranch in Willis, Texas on my birthday March 14, 2026.
