We met through "mutual friends" ;)

Deepika and Akhil's story began in the brisk fall of 2021, where they were lucky enough to run into each other on a dating app. Akhil slid in pretending to like Victorian houses and Deepika? Well, that’s all she needed to hear. Akhil and Deepika didn’t share many similar interests at first, but that quickly changed. Despite initially being a “dog-person”, through the power of Bean’s cuteness, Akhil eventually turned to the dark side and now he can’t picture a life without their cat, Bean. Akhil shared his love for music and turned singy-songy Deepika into an EDM-girly. Despite being separated by the two states they lived in at the time, New Jersey and New York (suuuuuper long distance), they both made time to meet each other even through their busy school schedules (Deepika wasn't actually busy at the time #4thyearlife). After a couple of years of adventuring through life together, Akhil decided to pop the big question. He had the best surprise planned - a full day of ring shopping (to throw her off of course), good food, and walking through the park where they had their first date. When he popped the question, Deepika exclaimed, “I knew it!” Little did Akhil know, Deepika had been suspecting the proposal for the last week, and had recorded her suspicions leading up to the day. And now we’ve come to the present, where Deepika and Akhil are sitting on the couch trying to figure out how to write about themselves in 3rd person. Deepika and Akhil (and Bean) can’t wait to embark on this new chapter in their lives, and they are so excited to celebrate with you all! Thank you for being a part of their (our) lives <3
