Timing is everything. You never know when you'll experience one of those moments that may change your life forever. No matter when, where, or how these moments occur, all we can be sure of is that everything will happen how it was always meant to be. Destiny and timing: two forces that undoubtedly conspired to bring Kiruthi and I together. It seemed like we were always destined to meet. We shared multiple mutual friends and probably ran into each other several times. In fact, we've always talked about what it would've been like if we had met earlier. But we always come back to the same conclusion... it wouldn't have been the right time. 2016 was actually when we first met. At a puja (religious function), of all places! We spoke briefly, but that was it. A brief, chance encounter. 4 years passed and we're in July of 2020. Amidst a global pandemic, the reality show Indian Matchmaking had taken the world by storm. I posted a reel about the show's main character, Seema Aunty. Kiruthi responded, asking where I had gotten it. A conversation sparked and a friendship blossomed. It seemed like we knew each other for longer than we really did and that maybe this was going somewhere. But that's the thing about destiny and timing, you just never know. Our lives pulled us in different directions and away we went, wondering if we may ever see each other again. It wasn't the right time, nor was it the right moment. Fast forward about a year later, in 2021, and things seemed to fall into place. We had found each other again, this time through a birthday text I had sent. Similar to last time, we just clicked. But something about this was different. Texts turned into phone calls, which became nightly facetimes. Conversations spanned across so many different topics: graduate school, our future careers, food, music, friends, family, our fears, and really...just life. We decided that we needed to take things off the phone and meet in person. When we did, it felt as though time had stood still. We spent hours together that day, but at the end of it, it felt like only minutes had passed. I may have spilled Kombucha in her car and she may have choked while eating tiramisu. In other words, an unforgettable night! And this time around, it was exactly the right time and the right moment. Five days after that night, we confessed our feelings to each other. A week after that, I officially asked Kiruthi to be my girlfriend! Five years later, on December 20th, 2025, Kiruthi said "yes", one last time. This time, to sharing a future together, forever. It's why I'm sitting here writing this right now, and it's why you're here on this website. On June 24th, 2026, two best friends will be getting married. The result of impeccable timing and our intertwined destinies. We'd love to have you there to celebrate with us and to share in our excitement for the journey that lies ahead.
