If you haven't been, September is a beautiful time to be visiting the Berkshires. The leaves are starting to change, the weather is cooling down, and there are tons of activities for couples and families. If you decide to spend the weekend in the area before the wedding, we put together a list of our favorite things to do. In addition, the hotels welcome visitors and often have a list of events as well.

Shakespeare & Company

Shakespeare & Company is an American theatre company located in Lenox, Massachusetts in the Berkshire region of western Massachusetts. It was founded in 1978 by artistic director Tina Packer, who stepped down in 2009. Allyn Burrows is the current artistic director.

Berkshire Theatre Group

Berkshire Theatre Group was created in 2010 by the merger of two of Berkshire County’s oldest cultural organizations, Berkshire Theatre Festival founded in 1928 in Stockbridge and The Colonial Theatre built in 1903 in Pittsfield. One of the largest and most exciting arts organizations in the area, BTG oversees the development, production and presentation of theatre, music and the performing arts on multiple stages.

Berkshire Mountain Distillers

Established in 2007, Berkshire Mountain Distillers (BMD) has created a line of award-winning artisanal spirits including Greylock Gin, Ethereal Gins, Ragged Mountain Rum, Ice Glen Vodka, Berkshire Bourbon and New England Corn Whiskey, currently available in 19 different states. All products are handcrafted in small batches in Sheffield, Massachusetts at the Berkshire’s first legal distillery since prohibition.

Barrington Brewery & Restaurant

Since 1995 Barrington Brewery has been serving Barn Brewed Beer and food made from scratch. They were the first brewery on the east coast to install a solar panel system that supplies solar-heated hot water for brewing and restaurant use. Mass Audubon's Pleasant Valley Wildlife Sanctuary

Pleasant Valley Wildlife Sanctuary is a 1,142 acres wildlife sanctuary located in Lenox, Massachusetts that is owned by the Massachusetts Audubon Society. There are 7 miles of trails and a large pond on Yokun Brook.
