Like many couples these days, Chris and DeeAnn met online while Chris was in medical school and DeeAnn was working as a nurse in the Rio Grande Valley. What started as a casual conversation quickly turned into something more. For about two weeks, they talked and texted constantly while Chris was away on his pediatrics rotation in Corpus Christi, discovering how easy it was to laugh together and how naturally their connection grew, even from miles apart. Once Chris returned to the Valley, they finally went on their first date. It started out perfectly with easy conversation, lots of laughs, and that exciting feeling that maybe this could be something special. Near the end of the night, Chris made a brave move and leaned in for a kiss. DeeAnn, completely caught off guard, panicked and pushed his face away. Trying to recover and save the moment, Chris kissed her on the forehead instead, hoping that would soften the surprise. After the date, DeeAnn sent Chris the dreaded “friends” text. Later that night, she tried calling him, but he missed the call, leading to a bit of phone tag. When they finally connected, Chris immediately apologized for the kiss. After talking it through, DeeAnn decided to give him another chance. On their second date, Chris came prepared with flowers and another heartfelt apology. That day marked a new beginning, and from then on, everything just fell into place. The rest, as they say, is history.
