On the first day of ASL class, both of us saw each other in the hallway and sat next to each other. We started talking and laughing but didn't realize where life would take us. Soon, we started coming up with excuses to see each other - ASL club meetups, walking Rebecca's cat at the park, and watching movies. To this day, we have the most fun with each other. We have had so many adventures - a trip to North Carolina to pick apples, miscellaneous trips to the ER (where the proposal happened!), and various journeys in videogames - if you play Mario, you know what we mean! Even through the rough and tough times, we are always there for each other. So celebrate with us as we join each other forever in marriage!

Rebecca’s view: I had at this point decided I wasn't going to date for a while and was going to focus on myself. About a semester into this decision, on the first day of my third semester of ASL, I showed up early and saw Savannah. She looked familiar and comfortable, like i had know her for a while. I sat next to her in the hall and every moment just felt natural. Each day in ASL we soent talking and signing to each other. I started showing up earlier and earlier just to get the chance to hang out with her. I knew I had feelings for her the moment she started signing veggietales with me before class. One day while doing a promotion for the literary arts magazine, I wrote Savannah a flash poem on a typewriter. She returned the favor that afternoon and asked me out. From that point on, we took every chance we got to be together. Our first date was supposed to be after spring break but I couldn't wait to see her and go on a date, so I went out of my way to go to Charleston to pick up a friend so i could spend a couple hours with her, walking baby girl, and just hanging out at the park. We spent most of the days after that together, whether it be watching movies, going out and exploring campus, or the many various trips to doctors and the ER. While there have been many ups and downs, and a whole pandemic as part of our journey together, Savannah makes me a better person and is always there for me. We appreciate your participation in our special day and cant wait to celebrate this start with you.

They unfortunately had to go to the emergency room once again because Rebecca was having severe abdominal pain. It was one of the first times Savannah had to take Rebecca to the ER. While Rebecca was trying to handle things well, she was not having a good time. Savannah spent most of the time at the ER talking about the future, about trips to Disney World and children and the ideal house. She spent the whole time cheering Rebecca up and making her look forward to the future. At one point, after Rebecca had been fairly drugged up, Savannah was joking around and had said she had a very important question a few times. Rebecca said, “don't you dare propose to me here.” Savannah proceeded to ask Rebecca what she’d say if she did ask to marry her and Rebecca said she’d probably accept. Savannah then proceeded to propose and a very drugged-up Rebecca said yes. Savannah then talked to Rebecca about it and asked again once Rebecca was not drugged up and the answer stayed the same.

After Savannah proposed to Rebecca, she knew she wanted to propose back. She got a ring box and painted it to look like a ? Box from Mario. On the inside, she wrote player one ready, player two press start. I then set up a small scavenger hunt of important places to us on Clemson's campus. Rebecca put all the clues in balloons and had her go from place to place to pop the balloons for the next clue. The last clue took Savannah to the building of the classroom we first met at. Rebecca was going to take her to the place we met but the building was locked because it was a weekend and incidentally also the day of a home football game. Outside of that building Rebecca gave a little speech (she had thought about it but scrambled stuff together when they actually got there) and opened the box with the ring in it and asked her to marry her. She said yes and they walked back to her apartment.
