Where and when can I buy beer and wine?

Answer

Grocery stores sell beer and wine in NC! The Lowe's food store (listed on the Things to Do tab) is right outside St. James Plantation and has beer and wine. For liquor you will need to go to an ABC store. There is one located in Southport and one on Oak Island. Remember that you can not buy alcohol in NC on Sundays, it's a holy day.

How far is the drive from New Jersey to Southport, NC?

depending on where you are leaving from, it's about a 9.5 hour drive

Which airport should I fly into?

Answer

If you are flying from Newark Airport, we find that there are more flight options into Myrtle Beach Airport. The trade off is that Myrtle Beach Airport is about an hour and 20 minutes from Southport, NC and Wilminton Airport is only about 40 minutes. I would say if you can find a good flight into Wilmington it's the best bet!

What is the difference between Southport and St. James Plantation

Answer

-St. James Plantation is the community we are getting married in. It is so big that it is sometimes refereed to as it's own town. (confusing I know!) -Southport is the technical address of the venue and the town the St. James Plantation is located inside. *When you are down for our wedding, and are using GPS to find places in the area, some of the places within St. James Plantation may be found in the town of St. James instead of Southport.

Are beaches free in North Carolina?

Answer

YUP! You're not in Jersey anymore. The beaches on Oak Island are all public and have beach access every few streets. There is a small parking lot for each beach access, however, if it's a nice day you may have to park on the street.
