Seventeen years ago, when we took our very first photo together at Chowan University in 2009, we never could have imagined that one photo and ten years apart would one day grow into a love that would shape our entire lives. Back then, we barely interacted, passing each other on campus beneath the watchful gaze of the Hawk, unaware of the journey that awaited us. And yet, even in those small moments, God was quietly weaving our story. After a welcome-back message, a first date weekend, and two years of heartfelt postcards from Jamal bridging the distance between us, each note became a reminder of care, hope, and the possibility of something more. Looking back, it feels almost magical like a second chance written just for us. That quiet persistence, those little gestures, and the patience to let our love unfold naturally have become some of the most cherished parts of our journey. Over the years, we’ve built a life full of shared passions and simple joys. We’ve traveled to new places, discovering both the world and each other in the process. We’ve gotten lost in books together, wandered on long walks, and spent countless hours at the beach, letting the waves mirror the rhythm of our hearts. We’ve laughed and cried while watching Studio Ghibli movies, savored countless meals, and nurtured a love for good food and cozy, meaningful moments alike. But what anchors our love above all is faith. Praying together, attending church, and centering our lives around God has given us a foundation stronger than anything else. And through it all, our families our roots, our support, our people have made this journey even richer, reminding us that love is not just between two people, but shared and celebrated across generations. We believe God has been orchestrating every step of our journey, guiding us from the first glance on campus, through postcards and second chances, to this very moment. And now, as we step into this next chapter of our lives together, we do so with hearts full of gratitude, joy, and a love that feels both timeless and brand new. Here’s to our future, #postcardstoforever.
