Our ceremony will begin with a ketubah signing, the signing of the Jewish wedding contract. At the ceremony itself, there will be a Jewish wedding canopy, or a chuppah. This represents the home that the couple will build together. Deborah and Toby will circle around each other, signifying the start of our lives together. Then, there will be several blessings, and the ketubah, that we had previously signed, will be read out loud. Then, the couple will be wrapped in a prayer shawl, and more blessings will be said. Afterwards, Toby will smash a glass, symbolizing that life has sorrow as well as joy.
We will miss you! If you know you cannot come even as early as the Save the Dates come, we have enabled the online RSVP on the website. Let us know as soon as possible.
No. We are intending to keep a kosher kitchen, which means that we cannot mix meat and dairy and need separate pots, pans, plates, etc. So, a lot of listings on the registry are asking for two items.
