Deborah and Gbenga first met at a church event in the summer of 2011, when Deborah approached Gbenga to start a conversation. After that initial meeting, Deborah vanished for a while, but Gbenga managed to track down her BlackBerry Pin. They kept in touch on and off as friends for over a year, gradually growing closer. In the summer of 2013, Gbenga made a point of traveling all the way to North London just to attend the same church event, hoping to see Deborah again. They did meet, had a brief 10-minute chat, and then Gbenga returned home to South East London. From there, their bond deepened, and they became inseparable over the phone, often watching movies together on Skype, as distance kept them apart. In December 2013, they met at Gbenga’s aunt’s house, where he asked Deborah to be his girlfriend. Throughout their years in Sixth Form and University, they found time to meet up at libraries on weekends, just to be together. Over the years, they grew from two teenagers navigating life together to a couple building a home and welcoming a puppy named Biko. Many years later, on their 11th anniversary, the same Deborah and Gbenga who fell in love as teenagers will stand before their family and friends to say “I do.” What began at a church event has blossomed into a story of pure love, with God at the center, guiding their journey. A beautiful love story, written in heaven, of unconditional love and soulmates. #ADecadeOfLove
