Lucas and I have been in the same class since Kindergarten. We graduated together in 2012 and through our almost 20 years of being in the same class we never really interacted with each other. It wasn't until February of 2018 we happened to be at the same place at the same time and at that point hadn't seen each other for about 6 years. I'm still not sure what did it, but he contacted me a few weeks later and said he had a great time and wanted to see me again. This was hard as I was living in Portsmouth at the time. We casually dated and traveled back and forth for a few months but knew we wanted to see more of each other.. At that point no one knew I had hopes of moving back home so when we started dating there were a lot of people skeptical of how we'd make it work. After 7 months of long distance I made the move back home and we started our lives together. It's crazy to think our love had been right in front of our faces the entire time, but we wouldn't change a thing!

The ring was shipped to our good friend Jacob's house and was "disguised" as tractor parts...clever as Jacob does fix our tractors! Lucas sent a text early in the day saying that he had bumped into Becca (our photographer) and that she wanted to use a spot we had for her photo sessions. She would give us a session if we agreed to let her test out lighting and lenses. We were excited! How often do you get a session from your favorite photographer?! Thinking it was mostly for testing purposes we dressed semi casually and headed down to the field. Becca told us she was going to try some different poses and angles so I needed to stand in front to one side and Lucas would stand behind me on the other side...OK seems pretty standard. When she was done she told me to face the other way and when I turned around Lucas was down on one knee. Both of us were pretty speechless! A total surprise and complete planning on his part. Absolutely perfect!
