We have chosen to include in our wedding ceremony the ancient Celtic tradition of handfasting which was once a common practice of marriage.
It is also known as the original source for the expression of "tying the knot".
We have asked a member from each of our families to participate in the ceremony by tying the handfasting cord around our joined hands which will symbolize the joining of our two lives together, and also the joining of our two families.
In commemoration, we ask that you all introduce yourselves to each other because "We are family"!
