2020

And in an instant our lives changed forever...

April 2017

It all started at dinner with friends at Coal Vines in Addison, Texas after work. We had been friends for awhile but we made a special connection that night and neither of us saw it coming. Later that week we texted (how modern, right?) into the wee hours of the morning, sharing more about our lives and hearts. We both opened up to each other in a way we hadn't with anyone else ever before. During the following weeks, FaceTime dates were daily and long late night conversations made for big yawns in the morning. A weekend visit to Atlanta in May and the rest was history. The past two years have been full of love and adventure. We have navigated a long distance relationship, traveled back and forth between Dallas and Atlanta, met family members near and far, and spent quality time with friends that supported us. We've moved twice and bought our first house together. We have enjoyed many vacations with family and fun holiday seasons. We also experienced the loss of Deb's dad, who was one of our biggest cheerleaders. As we look to the next season of life as a married couple, we are honored to be surrounded by family and friends that love and support us. We both know we wouldn't be here without you. We are excited for what adventures lie before us and can't wait for April 2020!

The engagement!!

June 20, 2019

Best. Day. Ever. The vacation had been planned for months. I (Myka) thought it was a celebration for an ending of a work project. Deb had other ideas. It was the second day of our trip to Harbour Island in the Bahamas. We spent the day relaxing on the beach, reading, swimming, and fun, fruity cocktails. Deb told me that she had planned a dinner at the resort so we went to the room to get ready. We enjoyed some wine and cheese in the room, all the while I had no clue what was really planned. We were leaving the room to head to dinner and Deb suggested the 'beach route' to the restaurant. I was not thrilled about the heat and the sand (I was freshly showered!!) so suggested the road option. Deb was insistent so they headed down to the water. It took me a bit, but I finally realized that the full beach dinner set up was for us. It was absolutely beautiful and so romantic. We enjoyed an amazing dinner and wine with a gorgeous ocean view. Before dessert, Deb suggested a short walk down the beach. Still clueless, I followed and began to chat about the sunset and ideas about retiring on a beach. Deb stopped walking and grabbed my hands. She began to say how she never imagined finding a love like this and how happy she was. It FINALLY clicked and the tears started to flow. I was so excited to say "YES!!" to a forever with Deb. It was a perfect day from beginning to end and so special for us both. The picture at the top of the page was taken shortly after Deb proposed. We are both so lucky to have found one another and can't wait for our future together.
