Brendan and I met on a random Thursday at a charity event for his fraternity. We were introduced by a mutual friend and Brendan was immediately infatuated with me. He was a complete gentleman the whole night and made sure I was taken care of. We laughed, danced, and stole glances of each other the whole night. As soon as the event ended, Brendan wasted no time asking me out to lunch the following day. The next day he took me to lunch at one of his favorite spots. We chatted about everything under the sun. It felt like we known each other forever! In fact, we had someone ask how long we had been together and was surprised to hear we had just met the day before. Neither one of us wanting the evening to end, Brendan asked me to join him the next day to celebrate his birthday. I declined due to already having other plans. Fast forward to the next day, I was out with my girLS and we ended up a few doors down from Brendan’s birthday celebration. I texted him so we could laugh at the irony together and to my surprise Brendan decided to join us instead. Yes, he left his entire birthday gathering! We laughed and danced the night away! We have been inseparable from that weekend forward.

It was a warm September 3rd Thursday evening in 2015. De’Asha and I were headed to an annual fundraiser hosted by the brothers of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity INC. While we arrived separately it seemed as though there was an unexpected plan by the universe for us to cross paths. I was instantly intrigued by a very reserved down-to-earth De’Asha. Sometimes in life, there is a person who will cross your path in life, whether it’s a friend, a coworker, or a distant family member that can help put the pieces of your life together. Indirectly De'Asha became that person for me. The feeling to want to just hang out and kick it with a person like De’Asha became undeniable. One thing about De’Asha though she was a stern independent woman who would not allow me to pay for any of the outings. Now, this is a different experience than I was used to. At that moment I knew we were meant for each other. These moments created laughter, creativity, and a friendship that people in turn today understand why we are best friends. It’s the hard work, the compromise, the communication of this journey that has brought us to this day. Now I would be lying if I didn’t say this was hard work for us, but every stumble and fall has proven to be worth it, and together we are destined to make a great life and bring happiness to each other, and fuel a light so bright that everyone around them can enjoy this journey with us. So, I want to thank you, for being a witness to this very day and I hope you enjoy this union of matrimony.
