Wedding Party

Meet our amazing wedding party! These amazing people will be walking down the aisle with us and ensuring that our day is extra special.

Gina Sainten

Maid of Honor

I couldn’t imagine not standing by my sister's side on the day of her wedding. We have so many memories together that always include lots of laughter and adventures. I have loved our trips to dream locations like traveling around Australia, climbing the Harbor bridge, and swimming in the Great Barrier Reef. I also loved going to places like the Dominican Republic, relaxing on the beach, but also the special trip to visit a local school. Seeing Deanna and Rey grow as a couple has been amazing. The love that they have for each other is wonderful to witness. I love watching how much you both love my girls and play such an important role in helping to raise them. I am so honored to be part of their special day and see these two wonderful people start the next chapter of their lives together.

I knew of Deanna before even meeting her, admiring her at a distance, thinking she was the coolest. We officially met at a party when she pulled me into a bathroom to spy on people. I finally understood what the hype was about. I felt special that she befriended me, that’s the kind of radiance she has. The bathroom incident set the tone for our relationship. We have always been involved in shenanigans. We never take ourselves too seriously and have so much fun doing literally anything. My favorite memory is the spy outfit incident, I won’t say more (if you know you know). She has always been understanding and makes me feel heard. She is the funniest, sweetest, most genuine person I know. She steps in her power, never cutting herself short. Can you tell I love my LP Deanna? I surely do.

Roderick Elzey

Best Man

The day has come for you to get married and believe me this is really a special day. I have watched you my entire life become the man that stands before us today. You have held many hats throughout my life: My big bro, dad at times, football coach, but most meaningful, my best friend. Willing to protect me at all cost no matter what situation arises. You were and are one person in this world that I can turn to when I got into a jam, My Big Brother. Trust me I say those words with pride. It means as much to me today as the day I was born. I chose this picture above, not because it was the only picture I could find, but for what it represents: A TOAST TO UNITY, LOVE, & FAMILY! Congrats Brother on your upcoming nuptials, may the blessings for our expanding family come in abundance. ONE LOVE!

Deanna (my dear Abacha as she is known to me) and I met coaching YMCA Ice Skating Camp. You could say we were the original Johnny Weir & Tara Lipinski (without actual ice skating talent). We handled kids stealing other's food to kids casting spells/putting hexes on us. It was a summer to remember and solidified our friendship. Over the past 20 years, we’ve been there for each other and our relationship has deepened in ways we would never have imagined. Dependable, kind, funny and a beautiful person inside and out, she is a treasure of a friend. When we are together, I never want our laughs, commentary and good times to end. She was an integral member of the Grooms’ Crew during my wedding. I am beyond thrilled to have the privilege of reciprocating the honor. Let’s get this girl married!

Groomsman

I met Reynard in 1985. That day, I met the man that I would look up to more than anyone for the rest of my life. From that first day, he had a little brother that idolized him. We played football, basketball, and baseball daily. He dominated, but took the time to teach Roderick, Randy, and I, always pushing us to be better. He did something right, because we all played sports in college. Rey would get blamed by our mom for not taking care of us “babies” as kids. Roderick and I cut school in 4th grade to watch an Oakland A’s game. We got caught and the response=“Reynard, why did you let them do that?” We had a free pass, thanks to our big brother. “Big Rey” always had our backs. Rey unknowingly filled a father figure role. I love you brother. I am so honored to be part of your special day.

Bridesmaid

I’ve known Deanna since junior high. Their entire family loved me through some of my hardest years growing up. I’ve looked up to Deanna since the day I met her. From BoyzIIMen concerts to now working together, she has been my sister and confidant. A favorite memory I have is when we were traveling to a field hockey tournament, listening to a Paul Simon CD. 17 tracks in, “Diamonds on the Soles of her Shoes” plays, the three of us perk up, Emilio bobs his head and Marge taps her hand on the steering wheel. At the 7 minute mark, the rhythm picks up and we go wild, completely invested! As the song ends, we are exhausted. Whenever I hear this song, I think of the Sainten’s. I can’t wait to celebrate these two incredible people. I love you both and I couldn’t be happier for you.

Rey, my brother, the one I can tell my soul to. Who can relate to me like no other. Who I can laugh with to no extent, who I can cry to when times are tough. You have helped me with my life problems and I'm so grateful for that. Never have you turned your back on me or let me down. I don't think you know what that means to me. From when I was a little kid in Casa Grande, you've always been a big brother to me. You have everything to do with me becoming Coach Ondrey in our community and I thank you for that fam! We had the same vision to help our youth and you helped me to get started! I just want you to know I wouldn't be the person that I am without you fam!! Much love.

I met Deanna when she was my RA at Santa Clara University. Our relationship was slow at first, as she needed to uphold the RA rule on our floor, and I was a timid freshman. We have so many favorite memories together it is hard to decide: Loving all of our New Year's together and trips down to LA/Palm Springs. The like 10+ times we’ve seen Goapele at Yoshi's. The epic Halloween where we were a Double Dare team and then had to set up a morning triage, tending to our wounds from the night before. To all the times we hang out, catching up on life. I love how Deanna’s infectious smile and laugh puts anyone in a good mood. She is a "down" girl and whenever we are together, it's going to be a great time. I am excited to be part of her bridal party and watch her start the next chapter of her life.

Charles Scott

Groomsman

I would have never thought that the dark, bald-headed cool ass dude that never busted a sweat while walking around MHS in 91/92 would become my brother from another mother. When 93/94 rolled around, I was bouncing between North & East San Jo catching buses or walking the streets. Sometimes I had to walk 3+ hours from MHS to ESJ after waiting hours for the bus to diss me. Even worse, most of the people I knew back then that drove would throw up the deuces as they rode by. Without really knowing me, Rey always stopped and offered me a ride, never asking for gas money or how far I was going. No matter what the time was, Rey always showed love. A friendship turned into a brotherhood built off love that will last a lifetime. Love you Big Homie, Big Bro!!! Congrats to you and Deanna!!! - Sparc

Rey and I have been best friends since the day we met in 97, working together at Weller Elementary! We have created wonderful memories filled with uncontrollable laughter and random classic stories that make us laugh to this day! Rey is a kind, honest, genuine, dependable and determined person that I am honored to call my big brother! Thank you for always being you “Realness to the fullest” a trustworthy friend, dedicated coach and mentor to many! Rey impacts and enriches so many lives, doing it effortlessly and selflessly. I cherish our bond and I look forward to making more memories with you and Deanna! Being a part of the love that they share is truly a treasured blessing. I’m honored and grateful to be a part of your special day! Cheers to your new journey together! I love you both!

After never sharing his chips, drinks, and other snacks or always having to sit in the front seat when we took a ride... Reynard has played every bit of an important role in my life. I feel as a father would be to his son. He laughed with me during the fun times and scolded me when I messed up. Reynard always made me feel like family. Most of all, he encouraged me to be the BEST in all things that I do. To this day, I strive to be like him... I'm coaching, not sharing my snacks, and encouraging players to be better men.
