It was because of so many little things that lined up that i got to meet my one true love. From not even being home because i was about to be deployed to being dragged out of my house by my friends only to find out another friend is celebrating a b-day at another bar, it seems that the universe lined everything up that night. I met Dee at a bar called The Little Easy, a bar i neither planned to be at nor wanted to go to. The night before i was 70 mi away from this bar, thinking about calling it and just staying on base to relax for the weekend. Something pushed me towards home though, and then my friends further pushed me to go out. First two things to line up. Once im out, at a bar called Las Perlas, my friend notices that at another bar our old high school buddy is celebrating at The Little Easy. I say hell no. Nah im comfortable here. Lets catch up and drink. They say lets just go, it’ll be fun. I say fine. No willpower, i know. Yet, it was the third thing to line up. I walk into this bar, and i see the most beautiful creature i’ve ever had the priveledge to lay my eyes on. More rare than a Snow Leapord, more beautiful than the Sistene Chapel, it was Dee. She wore a velvet-like blue dress with some beige heels. Her eyes accentuated by a blue eyeshadow, her hair wavy like the waves of a crystal clear ocean, and her smile as inviting as home is. I knew when i saw her that my heart was finally home. With the help of Jack Daniels, i built the courage to ask one of her “friends” if she was there alone? He said, “oh you mean my cousin Dee?” Yup, i met the fam DAY ONE. We talked and danced, and the rest is history. She is not just my other half, she is my entire heart.
I can tell you every moment of this night as if it were my favorite movie, but i'll save a few of the details in case you don't like to read. Swearing off of men only a few months prior, i was having the best night of my life December 22, 2017. I kid you not, every second of that night, with the dozen or so of us, replays in my mind as a slow-motion montage: a group of beautiful men and women throwing their heads back laughing, dancing, and singing their hearts out to the best throwback songs. We were celebrating a cousin's 21st birthday at a bar called "The Little Easy," and it has easily become one of my top 3 best days of my life. Time passes and we buy more drinks, dance to more songs, laugh at more memories. Most of the group then find a line of stools to take a break on while a few of us keep dancing. Mid dance i lose my balance as my arm is yanked by my older cousin Anthony, and I find myself in front of this tall, handsome man that checks all of my boxes. He looks at me with the big, warm, brown eyes and smiles. Anthony says "Deanna this is Francisco, Francisco this is Deanna. You're welcome." As my cousin vanishes behind us, I nervously laugh and shake his hand. We talk about the row of my family members sitting behind us, and he assures me he'll behave. And although I usually trip up more dancing with a partner, everything felt in sync, everything felt right. Before my cousins whisk our group to another bar, Francisco asks for my number. I have never been so grateful for my carelessness in giving a stranger my number. And after all this time, I have never smiled as hard when I told my parents I met my future husband at a bar.
