An 'Adventure Elopement' is just that: an adventure! It takes the traditional definition of elopement to the next level, as couples travel to say "I do" in locations that are, you guessed it, an adventure to get to. Think breathtaking views, becoming one with nature, and spending the day filled with activities meaningful to you both. It offers a unique opportunity to celebrate your love in any way you chose.
Learning about adventure elopements made us think about what our 'ideal wedding day' would be, and for us it combined our love of traveling and hiking while 'sploring the White Mountains. Knowing our 5 year anniversary was fast approaching (in the midst of Covid), we didn't want to plan a more traditional-style wedding with the uncertainty of how things could turn out. We discussed and decided early on this was the best path for us, and looking back on our day we wouldn't change a thing :)
It's our 5 year anniversary!
New Hampshire is where we took our first trip together after saying 'I love you' back in 2016, and it is where Dan proposed.
Only us and our two photographers, Natalie and Anton. (Natalie was also our officiant for our ceremony!) https://www.antonandnataliephoto.com/ Both of our immediate families knew of our decision and have been very supportive throughout it all.
Yes. We still had a first look, exchanged vows and rings, and even had celebratory cupcakes (Jack & Fin's) later in the day!
We sure did! We started the day in regular hiking clothes and changed at our ceremony location, then spent the rest of the day in our wedding attire. The train on Bianca’s dress looped nicely around the hip strap of her backpack making for hands free hiking - something she looked for while dress shopping (also, the dress has pockets!). Dan made sure when getting fitted for his suit that he could move freely enough for hiking.
Diamond and Australian Black Opal While vacationing in Sydney on our first trip to Australia, Dan gifted Bianca a solid Australian black opal ring. Having a piece of Australia, where Dan's family lives, really meant a lot, and Bianca wore this ring everyday since getting it. When the time came for Dan to chose an engagement ring, he thought about what the most meaningful ring could be. For over a year he worked to create a custom-designed engagement ring to not only have a diamond as the center stone, but added two Australian black opals. He worked with a licensed opal dealer in the US and selected these specific Australian opals - linking together the two families and countries.
