We met sitting next to each other on an airplane from Beirut to Cincinnati. Hussein was moving away from home for the first time to start at job at University of Cincinnati. I had been doing a rotation at American University of Beirut, where he had done medical school, and we probably crossed paths without meeting each other during that month - we probably even walked past each other without knowing! Hussein was initially supposed to leave two days before our flight together, but due to a technical problem, he had to reschedule for two days later. On the first flight, Hussein offered his coat to use as a pillow so I could sleep on the plane, and when I woke up, we started to get to know each other. We immediately found things in common from career to hobbies and it was so easy to talk to each other. We asked if we could be seated next to each other on the second half of the trip from Paris to Cincinnati, which they were able to arrange (thank you CDG!). On that flight we watched Interstellar and shared photos, music, and life stories. The rest is history!
