We met at the Annual Ice Cream Social for the Freshman class, on the President's Lawn, that is held the day before classes begin at the University of Mary Washington. From that day on, we quickly became close friends.
A couple times a week, John would come over to my apartment for dinner and to just hang out. On the night before classes began for our Senior year, John came over for dinner, no different than in times past. However, unlike the other times when I would walk him out to say goodbye after dinner, this time, John leaned over and said goodbye with a kiss. We took a walk around campus the following day, which is when John said that he would like to kiss me again, and try to be more than just friends.
We decided to take a day trip to Fredericksburg to visit Downtown and take a stroll around campus. After enjoying coffee at our favorite coffee shop downtown, we decided we better make our way to campus before it got too dark. After walking around campus as the sun began to set, John led me to the back of his old dorm. Stubborn me didn't want to follow him, but after some convincing, he led me to a stairwell at the back of his dorm. Standing in the exact same spot John had asked me out three years prior, he dropped down on one knee and asked me to marry him.
