One of the most picturesque beaches in Crete. Access by car and then 1.5km steep walk but rewarded with incredible views or by boat departing from Falasarna, Kissamos or Chania.
Another famously picturesque and popular beach 1.5hrs drive further south along the Western coast of Crete. Known for its pink sand and crystal clear water – this does get busy so we recommend arriving earlier in the day or later in the evenings (sunset is at 8:30pm).
Located in South Western Crete, 1.5hr drive from Falasarna, is an amazing but challenging 15km, 6 hour downhill hike through the Lefka Ori mountains to Agia Roumeli Beach. Reward yourself with a 1L beer and a generous lunch before catching the ferry to Sougia and then a bus back to the start. Be sure to have tickets for these both (can be purchased in the days before).
By far the best way to see and experience some secluded swimming spots is by boat. “Smile Cruises” offer a number of different half or full day trips out of nearby Kolymbari.
Chania is built around a 14th Century Venetian harbor, spotted with great restaurants (e.g Salis), museums and shops. This is definitely worth a day getting lost in the back streets of the “Old Town”.
