Lauren's POV: One fateful day in October 2020, I decided to download a dating app. My skepticism was high (as we have all heard some interesting stories resulting from dating app dates) but I thought I would give it a go nonetheless. This being my first experience on a dating app, I consider myself extremely lucky to have 'matched' with Dalton on that very first day. One of our first conversations was about our mutual enthusiasm for the SF Giants, followed up by our enjoyment of an ice cold margarita and a love of cats (still love all of these things LOL). After some chatting, Dalton and I agreed to meet at Iron Horse for dinner. I remember effortlessly talking for hours, forgetting there were other people all around us. It was the first time I experienced the feeling of being the only people in a room, truly locked in with each other. It was the best first date I could have asked for! Unfortunately, the Dodgers were in the World Series in 2020 and were playing at the time of our dinner. I will never forget being surrounded by TV's as we watched the Dodgers throw the last pitch to win the World Series. Being a true Dodger hater, this was absolutely the worst case scenario! However, being with Dalton on that date was exactly where I needed to be. Even though the end of the game marked the end of our date, his calm energy kept me grounded as we said our goodbyes. From that moment on, Dalton has continued to be my voice of reason and shoulder to lean on every single day. Forever grateful for the friends that urged me to hop on Hinge - I can't wait to marry the love of my life!! Dalton's POV: It was love at first sight when I saw Lauren's beautiful smile in the snow on her Hinge profile. I decided to reach out and connect over our shared love for the SF Giants. After securing her phone number, I nervously set up our first date at Iron Horse. I soon realized it was the day after her birthday, which only added to my nerves. As I sat down at the restaurant, my heart was racing with anticipation. But when I heard my name called from behind me, a sense of calm washed over me, and it felt like time had slowed down. In that moment, everything just felt right. Throughout the date, Lauren seemed to be playing it cool, making it hard for me to gauge how she was feeling. I worried I might be talking too much and not giving her enough space to share. Fortunately, our earlier conversations had already made me fall for her, so I was hopeful she felt the same. When the date ended, I walked her to her car and, feeling a bit bold, held her hand on the way. I didn’t want that moment to slip away. Later, after I got home and hadn’t heard from her yet, I texted to let her know how much I’d enjoyed our time together and how excited I was for the next time we could hang out. And the rest, as they say, is history. I never expected a dating app to lead me to the love of my life, but here we are, and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with her.
