Questions/ Details

Question

Disclaimer

Answer

Please read with a sense of humor. Sorry, Emily is Jeff’s daughter.

Question

Dress code

Answer

Show up looking sharp, Formal or Semi- Formal. Suits, khakis, dresses, or something that says “I tried today.” Please avoid Jeans this isn’t the county fair (despite the scenic routes) and if you’re in white, you’ll end up in the family photo album for all the wrong reasons.

Question

How should I get there

Answer

We’ll have a shuttle running from Indiana’s “Hilton Inn” —because the last thing we want is anyone colliding with a cow on the way to or from the reception. The shuttle will pick up and drop off at set times, so be there or be… stuck. If you’re feeling responsible (or, let’s be honest, a party pooper) and don’t plan on drinking, you’re welcome to drive yourself. Just know that Uber laughed when we asked if they could find Mahaffey—so don’t count on them DISCLAIMER: Shuttle bus will only be running from Indiana, “Hilton inn”, NOT Punxsutawney.

Question

If I’m driving, how do I get there?

Answer

If you are coming from Indiana Pa, it’s roughly 45 minutes. Punxsutawney it’s 30. Our wedding is out in the middle of nowhere where the wifi is weak but the love is strong. please give yourself ample time to get to the venue. All turns look the same and the only directions I can give you is turn left at the tree, go straight past the cows, and if you see industrialization you’ve gone to far! Good luck everybody!

Question

Are kids allowed?

Answer

We adore your little ones… but this celebration, however, is adults-only. If your invitation doesn’t list your children’s names, consider it their golden ticket to a night off from you, with a babysitter while you enjoy food, drinks (without sippy cups), and dancing without minding your manners. If there are any hiccups, feel free to reach out—we’re happy to try and help!

Question

When to arrive?

Answer

Please arrive 20-30 minutes ahead of schedule. (Yes, even you uncle Ed)

Question

What’s the weather like?

Answer

It WILL be outside. Hopes and prayers for perfect weather are officially in effect. If you’re not into hopes and prayers… feel free to manifest it instead. (Anything for the cute pics:)) It’s October in the mountains, which basically means anything goes. One minute it’s a crisp 60°F, the next it’s a balmy 75°F. Emily’s professional recommendation: ladies, tell your husbands you definitely don’t need a coat…then tell them you’re cold and ask them for their suit jacket/ coat when you arrive. Basically, pack layers, bring a sense of humor, and embrace the unpredictability—mountain weather loves a good surprise.

Question

What to do?

Answer

So here’s the deal: the wedding is in Mahaffey—also known as the scenic middle of nowhere. The closest “big cities” are Indiana and Punxsutawney. (Which aren’t even cities) Indiana’s highlight? Philly Street, with its whopping lineup of shops and restaurants that may or may not be open when you arrive. Punxsutawney, on the other hand, is famous for its celebrity groundhog, who hangs out at… the library. When you arrive in Punxsutawney, don’t forget the bonus game: count how many groundhog statues you can spot before you lose track (hint: too many). As for sightseeing? Think trees, cows, more trees, and if the universe is feeling generous, a horse and buggy. (As for a more serious note, please drive cautiously, horse a buggy are on the road and they pop up around every curve) National Geographic has nothing on us. Basically, it’s the perfect backdrop for our wedding in the absolute middle of nowhere. You’re welcome!
