We met in 2021 at a worship team practice for a campus ministry, gathered in a mutual friend’s basement. What began as easy friendship—filled with soccer banter and occasional check-ins—slowly and unexpectedly grew into something much deeper. Looking back, we see how God was quietly at work, opening a door that led us to this moment. This is why we celebrate.
Our anchor verse is Revelation 3:6–7, centered on the promise of an open door. Oyin POV's: I first encountered the phrase "Open Door" in prayer and couldn’t shake it—it stayed with me throughout the day. That same day, I listened to a song by Tolu Odukoya called "Open Door" featuring the verse on its cover, and later heard a teaching by Pastor Daniel Olawande on open doors that stirred my faith deeply. Later that week, Dayo and I reconnected. Shortly after, he shared an earlier encounter with his pastor in Maryland, who had encouraged him concerning marriage and then opened his physical Bible to the exact same verse, Revelation 3:7-8, on open doors. These moments, among others, became undeniable confirmations of God’s word and His hand upon our union. Dayo's POV: I have known Blessing, my wife, since 2021, yet my soul speaks of her as though it has known her forever. Long before our paths crossed in time, God had already written her name into my destiny. The way He revealed her to me still leaves me in awe, a sacred moment sealed in vision and in faith. In that quiet certainty, the Lord made clear who my wife was always meant to be. And in His flawless orchestration, He aligned our lives, our steps, and our seasons, placing us in the exact moment where love would finally meet its purpose. What we share is not coincidence, but covenant. Not chance, but calling.
“Write this letter to the angel of the church in Philadelphia. This is the message from the one who is holy and true, the one who has the key of David. What he opens, no one can close; and what he closes, no one can open. I know all the things you do, and I have opened a door for you that no one can close. You have little strength, yet you obeyed my word and did not deny me."
