As cheesy as it sounds, it all started on a fraternity dance floor in college back in 2013. Kahlie was dancing with a group of sorority sisters when she saw a boy rocking a mohawk. For the next few weeks, they would only dance with one another at the Lambda Chi house on the weekends. They soon found themselves in some of the same classes since they were both journalism majors. They spent endless nights in Shirk Hall doing homework together, let's be honest they were watching YouTube videos and procrastinating. Garrett tried what seemed like a dozen times to make Kahlie his girlfriend, but she always said "no". Finally, after a year of torture, Garrett gave Kahlie an "Ultimatum". On September 14, 2014, Garrett drove her out to Camp Atterbury and took her to one of the ponds. He handed her a note with the George Strait lyrics "Check Yes or No" on it. Kahlie FINALLY checked "yes". Fast forward 6 years later, Garrett decided it was time to pop the question. On August 13, 2020 Garrett took Kahlie to their local nature park. After taking a walk on the trails Garrett decided to "fish" at the nearby pond. As he was fishing he was going on and on about old memories and then proceeded to get out his wallet. He told her that he found something, and handed her a note. The note was the exact same lyrics from that classic George Strait song just like he had written years ago. As she was reading it, he got down on one knee and asked those four magic words. Needless to say she checked "yes" one last time.
We appreciate every single one of you who is willing to come out to Colorado and attend our ceremony. Each one of you holds a special place in our hearts. In some way or another, you have helped make us the people we are today. We could not imagine spending our time with anyone else. With that being said, we are sad that most of you are not able to bring some of your family members and we apologize. We have very very limited space and wanted to make sure this was a small and intimate gathering with our closest friends and family. Luckily we will have an at-home reception on Friday, September 30th where everyone can help celebrate the two of us. We love you and we are super excited to spend a few days with you!!
