Q & A for the Big Day

The Wedding Website of Allison Dawson and Jonathan Linhart
We know traveling to our wedding is going to be unique - that's part of what makes it so special! Please reach out if you have more questions or need further clarification.
Question

When should I RSVP by?

Answer

The sooner, the better! We are asking for all RSVPs by August 1st, 2025. If you are coming from out of town and hoping to stay on the islands, please do your best to let us know by July 1st at the very latest.

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

The dress code for this celebration is Garden Formal. Think sport coats, lighter suits, cocktail dresses, dressy jumpsuits, and other formal wear; floral patterns and colors encouraged! This is an outdoor venue, and there is a potential for a cool evening lake breeze, so make sure to check the forecast and pack your shawl.

Question

What transportation is offered to and from Middle Bass Island?

Answer

The Historic Lonz Winery venue is only accessible by local ferry service to Middle Bass Island. www.millerferry.com 45-MIN FERRY via MILLER FERRY: Guests only visiting for the day must arrive to the Miller Ferry in Catawba in time to catch the 11:15am MIDDLE BASS ferry. This ferry line services both South Bass Island and Middle Bass Island, so make sure you purchase fare to Middle Bass Island and get on the right boat! No reservations are required unless you are trying to bring a vehicle over. Those visiting for just the day can absolutely walk on, no transportation is needed on the other side. We suggest arriving to the ferry around 30 minutes ahead of departure time to ensure you have plenty of time to park your vehicle, walk to the ticket booth, purchase your round-trip fare, and walk down to the boat. For anyone needing assistance to or from the ferry via golf cart, let them know at the ticket booth. Once on Middle Bass, the ferry will drop you off at the bottom of a small hill from the venue within easy walking distance. Currently, the final ferry leaving the island is 4:15pm. We are exploring alternate opportunities for later departures back to the mainland. Stay tuned!

Question

How do I get to the Miller Ferry (5174 Water St, Port Clinton, OH 43452)

Answer

The Cleveland Airport (CLE) is the closest airport, approx. 1hr and 15 minutes from the Miller Ferry. Detroit (DTW) and Columbus (CMH) are also options with a little longer drive. There is plenty of parking at the Miller Ferry. There are several free lots within walking distance (check their website at www.millerferry.com) as well as some paid lots, overnight and day.

Question

What are our lodging options?

Answer

Middle Bass is all private rentals. You can search options on VRBO or AirBNB but make sure you are booking a place on Middle Bass Island. If you choose to stay on Put-in-Bay (aka South Bass Island) you will need to take the inter-island Sonny-S ferry to and from the wedding venue. If you are interested in staying and need assistance finding a place, please let Jon, Allison, Karen, or Julie know as soon as possible. For anyone interested in staying nearby on the mainland, check out the hotels in Catawba and Port Clinton.
