Our journey began back in 2013, during our freshman year of high school. Gin was one of the very first friends Shardae made at Southfield High. It was in Ms. Bowman computer class that he finally introduced himself (after starring at her all 7th hour the day before in Mrs. Criteman’s math class) as “Vontae”, but Shardae had other plans. She refused to call him that and instead decided to call him by his last name, “Ginwright.” And just like that, a special friendship began. Life took us on different paths when Shardae transferred schools, but fate clearly had its own plans. We reconnected senior year and discovered we were heading to the same college—a sign, if there ever was one. It wasn’t until junior year of college that our friendship blossomed into something more, and we officially started dating. That was the beginning of the love story we now cherish every day. In 2022, we welcomed the greatest blessing into our lives—our daughter, Kai. She brought even more love, laughter, and purpose into our world. Then, on January 4th, 2025, Gin gave Shardae her dream proposal—a beautiful surprise engagement party surrounded by family and friends. It was a perfect moment, filled with joy, love, and happy tears. Now, we’re counting down the days until we say “I do,” and we’re so excited to celebrate this next chapter with all of you—our favorite people. Thank you for being part of our story.
