Na'Deja Brantley, from Memphis, Tennessee, and Davontae Anderson, from Florence, Alabama, never imagined their paths would cross in such a serendipitous way. In 2019, Davontae moved to Memphis for an exciting job opportunity. Just a few months after settling in, he came across Na'Deja on Instagram and followed her—but she didn’t follow him back. With a private page, she simply couldn’t see his photos, and in her book, if she can’t see your pictures, friendship isn’t happening. A few weeks later, fate had other plans. Both Na'Deja and Davontae happened to be members at the same Planet Fitness, and that’s where their story truly began. Na'Deja, who wears glasses regularly, didn’t work out in them, leaving her virtually blind in the gym. She was focused on the treadmill when she noticed a big, buff figure in the weightlifting section—she didn’t give it a second thought. Meanwhile, Davontae had been lifting weights and, catching a glimpse of Na'Deja through the mirror, became intrigued. From that moment, he couldn’t help but notice her at the gym. Na'Deja started noticing the same guy out of the corner of her eye, moving around the gym—but she thought nothing of it…until the final part of her workout. That’s when it clicked: yep, this guy was definitely stalking her. Moments later, the big, buff stranger approached and sat beside her on the floor. His opening line? “I like your workouts.” Flustered, Na'Deja thanked him awkwardly, and they started talking about exercise. She introduced him to Pinterest, sharing where she got her workout routines. He pretended not to know much about the platform, but he actually did—and impressed her by staying engaged. He closed their conversation with, “Can I have your number? Maybe we can work out sometime.” Naturally, she gave it to him. From that moment on, they became gym partners, gradually building a strong bond. After every workout, they’d head next door to Margaritas Bar and Grill—not necessarily the healthiest choice, but convenient and perfect for spending extra time together. Over the years, their friendship deepened, surviving the ups and downs of life, including the challenges of COVID. They were inseparable, seeing each other every day, discovering that they were truly two peas in a pod. On November 16, 2021, Na'Deja and Davontae welcomed their beautiful baby boy, Jamias Anderson. A few months later, they realized they wanted to be a family under one roof, and Na'Deja moved in with Davontae in Southaven, Mississippi. Their love story reached another milestone on February 17, 2024, when Davontae proposed—and Na'Deja said yes! Through rocky moments, rollercoaster years, and countless memories, their bond has only grown stronger. And now, with Jamias by their side, they’re writing the next chapters of their love story—full of laughter, adventure, and unwavering love.
