We met in the summer of 2011 at White Marsh Mall, while doing community service for school. The friendship was almost instant like we had known each other forever. The entire day we were connected at the hip, laughing, joking, and probably getting into something mischievous. It wasn't until the end of the day, that I found out Davon was 2 years younger than me, I was a little bummed - but still happy for my new friend. Little did we know, 4 years later our friendship would turn into the best love we've ever known.
We were in New York City, our special place, having a typical "us" day. Exploring the city, seeing the sights, eating great food, and enjoying each other's company. The first 3 years of our relationship were long-distance. I lived in New York for the majority of that time while in college playing basketball. He would make trips very often to come to cheer me on at my games. The distance was tough, but it made us tougher. I loved him coming, but I hated that he had to leave eventually. A few hours before it was time for us to catch our train to go home, he suggested we take a walk on the High Line. After walking for a short while we stopped, found a seat under the open sky, and sat talking and admiring the stars. As we continued to take in the city around us, Davon took my hand and dropped to his knee. I sobbed, and said "YES"; my best friend was no longer just my boyfriend. We were engaged! We are so excited to celebrate this next chapter of our lives with you. See you in Baltimore!
