Bryan and I met on the dating app Hinge. We "swiped right," had a few conversations online, and set a date to meet in person! We met at Jack's Abbey Brewery in Framingham, MA for a drink, and one drink turned into 3 hours of amazing conversation! We felt an instant connection and immediate comfort level with each other and the rest is history! We have gone back to Jack's Abbey each year on our dating anniversary :) On our second date, Bryan helped me cook for a Friendsgiving celebration I was hosting. When it came to making the mashed potatoes, I realized I didn't have a vegetable peeler in my kitchen! Bryan jumped right in and started peeling them by hand, burning them in the process, and earning the nickname "Mashed Potato Bryan" from my friends! I realize that any man who is willing to peel scalding hot potatoes with his bare hands for me on the second date is definitely worth keeping :) PS - we now own a vegetable peeler!
Bryan plans the most romantic proposal of all time on the beach in Cancun, Mexico at sunset, complete with rose petals, candles, a photographer, and even fireworks! However, we almost didn't make it to this moment... Even just a few weeks before the trip, we are unsure if we are even going! Bryan's passport is scheduled to arrive after our trip date. Plus, the website we booked our trip through never actually reserved our room! After countless hours on the phone listening to crappy hold music and lots of stress, we FINALLY pull together what we need to go on this trip! All the while, Bryan is freaking out because he knows he is planning to propose! He flat out tells me not to expect a proposal on vacation because he doesn't want to travel with the ring, so I am totally unaware of what's coming! We arrive at the beautiful Riu Palace Las Americas and have a perfect 3 days of vacation. Bryan keeps saying that he wants to take a walk on the beach at sunset on Tuesday, and asks me what I'm going to wear Tuesday, and says Tuesday is going to be a special night! At this point I start to think something is happening on Tuesday :) We book a catamaran excursion to an island for Tuesday, complete with snorkeling and a beach trip, and have an amazing day! Then, as we are getting ready for our walk, the heavens open up and it torrentially rains, about an hour before the proposal! Bryan is convinced that the plan is totally ruined, but thank goodness it only lasts about 20 minutes then completely stops! Phew! We grab a drink downstairs, and walk down the beach past the other resorts. I see about 3 other romantic dinner setups along the way, each time wondering if THAT is our spot! Finally, we see rose petals and candles shaped like a heart and I hear our song "Lovely Day" by Bill Withers playing. I immediately start crying, Bryan leads me to the center, gets down on one knee, and asks me to be his wife! It was everything I could have dreamed for and more!!
