On August 24, 2019 they met at an event in their dorm at RIT. Briana needed a new partner for a game and Jacob arrived just in time. (Good thing her first partner had to leave...) They lived only two doors down from each other their freshman year of college. Briana and Jacob had classes that ended at the same time, only Briana's was close to the dorm and Jacob's was on the opposite side of campus. One day, after staying late to speak with her professor and leaving later than usual, Briana bumped into Jacob on his walk back to the dorm. From this day forward Briana would take her time packing up after class and Jacob would RUSH so that they could "coincidently" run into each other on their walk home. They started hanging out more, going on dates, and the rest is history!

Jacob started planning in September 2024 when his sister Maya (who also happens to be a Jeweler) came to visit in Richmond. While Briana was at work, Maya took Jacob around to different jewelry stores and helped him learn all about what to look for in an engagement ring. Not knowing this, Briana left work early and kept calling Jacob to find out where they were, so she could meet up with them! Flash forward two months, Briana and Jacob were on a date when Jacob said he wanted to go into a jewelry store to look at watches. That jewelry store just happened to be having a "Diamond Event" with tons of vendors and engagement rings to try on. Jacob deserved an Oscar for this performance, because even after getting engaged Briana still thought this was just a coincidence, and he really wanted to look at watches. For the next few months Jacob worked with Maya to design a custom ring with everything Briana said she liked. On March 1, 2025 they were in Rochester visiting their friends. Briana's friend Kassy had suggested they all dress up and take cute pictures together. Everyone got dressed up and headed to an indoor botanical garden in Rochester.  When they arrived, there was a huge sign posted saying "No Posed Photography. This includes engagements". Again, another Oscar award to Jacob and all of their friends because Briana had no idea what the big deal was. Finally, Taylor suggested they go to an indoor butterfly garden.  Everyone got there and started taking pictures together. While taking photos, Jacob turned to Briana to start to ask the very important question. But again... not knowing what was happening... Briana told Jacob to turn around and face the camera for pictures. (Sorry Jacob) After a few more pictures, Jacob turned around, gave a sweet and romantic speech and dropped to one knee!
