Brett and Allison met their freshman year of college at the University of Arkansas (Woo Pig!) playing Ultimate Frisbee on the lawn in front of Brett's dorm. Brett threw a pass to Allison, which she ran into a tree trying to grab (clearly she's super competetive). After the game, they went to the dining hall with a few others for dinner and found out they had seperately made plans to go watch the Arkansas hockey team play that night. Each invited a few other people to join and they all met up at the game. Everyone went out for Whataburger after the game and shared their phone numbers to hang out in the future. Brett and Allison went on their first date July 2nd, 2016.

On November 16th, 2019 Brett and Allison planned a "date weekend", where each were in charge of planning a surprise date day for the weekend. Brett chose to plan Saturday and Allison planned Sunday. On Saturday, they woke up and got ready, stopped by Jersey Mike's to get sandwhiches for a picnic at the Dallas Arboretum, which Allison had been dying to see. They walked around for a while trying to find the "perfect" picnic spot. Brett finally found a spot near a cute, little creek under some trees. They unpacked their picnic and settled down for lunch. After eating lunch and relaxing, Brett pulled a small white Bible out of his backpack, and read a verse from Ephesians. He then pulled out a little red ticket stub. It was the stub from the hockey game they went to the night they met. He kept it because he knew from the very first day that Allison was The One. Brett told Allison she needed to stand up for the next part and she did so tearfully. And Brett got onto his knee and proposed and obviously Allison said "Yes!".
