Our Story

Their story began like every modern love story: Hinge. The first message simply read, “nice profile, Robert.” What started as a low-pressure first date quickly turned into a deep connection that neither of them would truly understand the full impact of for quite some time. On a summer evening in Spokane, Washington, they met at a food truck market, shared wine slushies, and spent hours walking along the river, talking easily as the sun went down. With both of them on the brink of major life changes (Robert focusing on medical school and Davis moving to Illinois) there were no expectations, just a genuine connection. By the end of the night, overlooking the water, it was clear there was something special there, but in the moment likely nothing more than good friends. Following that first date, Davis spent weeks road-tripping through national parks across the western US, while Robert became the person he texted about every trail, overlook, and unexpected moment along the way. When Davis returned, they had a second date, which was another walk along a different part of the Spokane river. This date made it obvious that what had started as friendship had grown into something more. As their relationship unfolded, adventure became both a shared language and a grounding force. After one particular snowy weekend getaway getting cancelled and doing a day trip to Coeur d'Alene instead, they learned that perfect plans matter far less than experiencing the adventure together. It was in one of those unplanned moments, surrounded by snow and stillness, on a dock in Coeur d’Alene, ID where Davis first said “I love you.” Some time later, Robert chose to return to that moment in a meaningful way. Overlooking the same dock where those first words of love were spoken, he brought Davis to Corbin Point; a quiet, scenic overlook that felt both familiar and somehow new altogether, much like their relationship itself. Surrounded by sweeping views and the stillness of the landscape, Robert asked Davis to spend his life with him. It was a proposal rooted in intention and memory, honoring where their love began while looking forward to the adventure ahead. Over the last few years, Robert and Davis have built a life defined by adventure, passion, and curiosity. They’ve explored over fifteen national parks and monuments together, often seeking out quieter seasons and less-traveled trails, with Glacier National Park holding a particularly special place in their hearts. At home, their sense of adventure looks a little different; with hosting friends for game nights, testing new recipes and cocktails, biking along the water, or taking long walks through the area they now call home. Choosing to elope in Shenandoah National Park felt like a natural extension of who they are. Surrounded by mountains, morning light, and the stillness of nature, they wanted to begin their marriage in a way that felt intentional, grounded, and deeply personal. That said, celebrating with the people who have loved and supported them along the way was always just as important. This celebration is a reflection of that belief. Gathering with the friends and family who have shaped their lives, shared in their adventures, and helped make this journey possible. Thank you for being part of their story and for celebrating this next chapter together.
