We wouldn’t say we met under completely normal circumstances; if anything, Davis jokingly says he was trapped in a power dynamic. We met at Cloud County Community College during dorm move-in day in August of 2021. Davis was moving in for his freshman year with his parents, while Aeryn was helping students as the RA in charge of the floor. Their first meeting wasn’t exactly magical. Davis was a dumb freshman trying to reinvent himself, and Aeryn was the RA next door who, at the time, really did not like him at all. Over the next few weeks, they kept crossing paths through dorm events and brief introductions, never quite getting to know each other. During this time, Davis, very bored and very unserious, decided to prank his RA for attention. This included leaving fire extinguisher box doors wide open and placing random fruit outside her door, much to Aeryn’s actual annoyance. Things started to change when Davis attempted to jokingly break into Aeryn’s car only to accidentally succeed when the door actually opened. Panicking, he immediately ratted himself out on Snapchat and offered to buy her a Sonic drink as an apology. When he returned, Aeryn was in the middle of a full-on craft tornado and didn’t want him to see the chaos. Davis, of course, thought this made it even funnier and tried to push past her as she blocked the door, resulting in the newly purchased Sonic drink being crushed between them. Davis was certain he was about to get a lecture, but instead, Aeryn burst out laughing. The two cleaned up the spilled Sonic together, and that’s when Davis’s crush really began. Over the next few weeks, he followed Aeryn around like a puppy, hanging out with her and her friend group. Meanwhile, Aeryn was completely oblivious, convinced he was actually interested in one of her friends. It wasn’t until one night after the group hung out at the mall that everything changed. As they walked back to their dorms and said their goodbyes, Aeryn turned to head into her room when Davis called her name. When she turned around, he kissed her on the cheek, said goodnight, and quickly disappeared into his room, leaving Aeryn completely speechless. They were practically inseparable after that.
