Davien and Brandon worked in the same area at Principal for a few years, and after a successful Habitat for Humanity build, went out on their first date at Blue Sushi in Des Moines. After a summer of Adventureland Bay and studying for the AWS Certified Developer exam together (both passed!), Davien decided to move in with Brandon in Corning, IA. (Note that she had previously told her friends and family that she would never leave Des Moines!)

Brandon designed Davien's ring on May 20, 2022 as she was getting her nails done for adult prom with her friend Lauren. A month later, Davien was refreshing her nails as Brandon was nervously hoping the jewelry store would open before she was done. Since his youngest son Braydon openly admitted he could not keep a secret, Brandon had his older son, Trent, keep him busy while he picked up the ring. Soon after, Davien joined them for lunch at Zombie Burger, and they then headed for Adventureland Bay. With a sneaky shuffle from ring box to swim trunk pocket, Brandon was prepared to propose. After an anxious few laps around the lazy river and a dangerous decision to hold the ring in his hand, despite the splashes of rambunctious children (a seemingly more dangerous river trip than his usual!), Brandon proposed as they floated in their tubes. Davien said yes(!), and they were engaged!

Brandon and Davien plan on stress testing their marriage in 2024 by building the house that they have been designing together for two years. This house should give them plenty of room to grow their family and create lasting memories.
