Our story

We met at a friend’s sweet 16 party and our only interaction that night was when David said “can you save me this seat please”. When he came back Sara was nowhere to be found. Neither of us knew it then but that little moment was the start of everything. A few days later we followed each other on Twitter and that’s where it all really began. What started as friendship quickly turned into talking every day and before we knew it we were spending lunches together and meeting after sixth form for walks through the park. Our first date is one we’ll never forget, we were both so nervous that we ended up going opposite ways on the escalator and we just stared at each other laughing. Despite David being every bit the gentleman Sara absolutely refused to let him pay for her cinema ticket, he wouldn't let it go so insisted on covering our Nando’s afterwards. Before Sara went off to university David planned something special. At Winter Wonderland, high above the lights of the city on the Ferris wheel, he asked Sara to be his girlfriend and gave her a promise ring, a promise of what he knew would come. For months Sara excitedly told Joyce, a very close friend, all about David. Joyce couldn't wait to meet this mysterious boy unbeknownst to us all they were cousins! Shock quickly turned into laughter and it was (and still is) one of our favorite stories. Just another sign that our paths were always destined to cross. The next big chapter was university and we weren't sure how it'll go since Sara was moving and staying on campus. On Sara’s second day David was there helping her settle in, we unpacked, prayed and from that point on we were inseparable. David practically lived at Brunel even commuting to work from Uxbridge to Canary Wharf early hours. We went to parties together, supported each other through the hard days and grew up side by side. Since being together we’ve travelled to over 20 cities that each felt like home because we were together. Through all the seasons laughter, grief and everything in between we chose each other again and again. What began with a saved seat grew into a love written by God, built on friendship, deepened by trust, refined through patience and overflowing with love. Now we’re saying yes to forever. Mark 10:9
