House Or Rental
There are plenty of options for air bnb in the area. Our recommendation would be to find something in Las Terrenas, there are more and better options there and Las Terrenas is a somewhat more tourist oriented town. Also the only town close by that has proper grocery stores. And you have a good variety of restaurants there too. Or if you would prefer to live in Samana, get a place a little outside of city center which can be quite noisy with music and such. As always with Air Bnb, read all the ratings and reviews very carefully and communicate well with the owner prior to arriving.
Hotel
There are plenty of different hotels, hostels and all inclusive resorts to choose from in Las Terrenas in all different price ranges. We would not recommend Samana for Hotel stays unless you would choose one of the all inclusive resorts. Also here it is important to read people's ratings and reviews of the hotel. We have found that hotels.com and bookings.com has the best deals. Also cheapcarribean.com have great flashsales and offers at times so it can really pay off to check in with them on a regular basis prior to booking a place.
House Or Rental
There is a very cute gated community here where Sandra and others in the congregation lives, that offers simple and affordable housing. El Proyecto is only a 5 min drive from our Kingdom Hall. It is usually very quiet but sometimes you can hear the music from a distance up by the main road. The community has a pool and a guarded beach. There is 24/7 security and there is a small kiosk in here that offers the basics and also sells breakfast, lunch and sometimes also dinner to very affordable prices. Most people who live here are retired Italians and they have a policy that no music or disturbing noises can be made after 10pm by those living here. Power does go out every day between 12 and 4pm. Most rental houses here have backup batteries for these hours but they will not be able to power larger things for example the fridge. Prices vary greatly but normally around $300 a month. Email sandra.c.hedstrom@gmail.com if you want contacts to house owners that rent out places.
