How We Met

Birthright Strikes Again - May 2017

David and Lauren met where all young Jews meet their future partner: on Birthright. But they swear it wasn't as cliché as it sounds. David was in a relationship when they met and their connection blossomed first from a deep and authentic friendship. On their first day in Israel, they took a walk in Tiberius and found themselves walking together amongst the larger group, sharing stories they rarely told anyone. Their connection was instant and their friendship continued to grow. Before long, David met Lauren's entire family and Lauren met David's, even before they started dating. The more they continued to uncover about each other, the more they continued loving what they learned. And soon, they found themselves in a long-distance relationship, with Lauren living in LA and David living in SF.

Moving In Together

The Castle - July 2018

After a long year of long distance, Lauren took the plunge and braved a move up north to San Francisco. They moved into 28 Twin Peaks, a beautiful home with the best views in SF, but also shared a shower with their roommate Dev. As they started to build their lives together, they even found themselves working in the same office building! From long distance to living and working together, that they never got sick of each other says everything you need to know.

Remember When - We Got Engaged!

A Hike to Remember - October, 2020

For their 3rd anniversary, David decided to write daily memories of Lauren and his relationship. As #100 approached, he knew the timing was right - it was a Saturday, they were going to be with Lauren's family in Stamford, and east coast fall was in full bloom. Lauren picked a crazy hard hike that included a rock scramble, not knowing what was coming. So, they slowly worked their way to the top, sweating, and with David desperately searching for the perfect spot. He finally found it: A secluded spot overlooking the Hudson river. They set up the hammock, put on some music and Lauren said “This is so romantic." David finally felt relief, and pulled out the Remember When. Lauren asked immediately “were you carrying that in your pocket the whole time?!” He smiled “yes, it’s number 100!” and she smiled back and read. It said: "Remember When we started dating, it took conscious effort to not just burst out and tell each other 'I love you.' We wanted to say it, but we also didn’t want to say it too early, so instead, we said 'I’m bursting.' But we couldn’t hold on long and, as you sat on my lap on the broken camping chair in Crater Lake, you told me you were falling in love with me. The truth is, we loved each other from the minute we met.” But David said “wait, there is one more.” He reached into his bag and grabbed the Remember When #100 (continued) and she read “I am still bursting to say this…” David got down on one knee and said “Lauren will you marry me?” She forgot to say yes in her joy, the ring didn't fit, but they were bursting with happiness.
