I met David prior to this particular evening on a professional level; he recommended me for a job that I ended up getting. But, I was on a date, at the same restaurant where he attended an event. He was also accompanied by a young lady. I sat at my table looking over the menu when someone asked, "are you ready to order?" I looked up and it was him. We cracked up. My date, not so impressed, looked away. We exchanged a few words then he left. My date inquired about him, I kept it short, said we were friends... Fast forward, David visited my office frequently, he would invite me out from time to time but I always declined. Eventually, we hung out and he was fun, funny and cool, so whenever he invited me out I accepted. He invited me to Honduras, to a reunion where all of his old friends agreed to meet. I accepted! Though my sisters thought I was crazy because our friendship was new I felt safe with David. We made it to Honduras and had an amazing time, I learned that he spoke Spanish fluently and was quite impressed, he was a man of God - I was even more impressed, and he was an awesome person and I really got an opportunity to get to know him. So, after we returned from our trip, we spent every day together and we're still making memories.
I had a nice weekend planned for Stephanie's birthday. I planned to propose during dinner but when she felt sick I had to cancel our reservations... not a good time to pop the question. So that thwarted my plans but we rescheduled her "birthday dinner" for the following evening. When it was time to leave for dinner a blackout struck the upper westside, there were no working street lights and a lot of businesses were forced to shut down, I was worried that would effect our dinner plans. Through it all, she remained calm while I was sweating bullets.... But, everything played out just like I planned. Dinner was great and dessert was going to be the moment of truth... I planned to propose during dessert which was tricky because Stephanie always passes on dessert. I told her I had the chef prepare something special for her and if she didn't like it she could just say no. Dessert came out and written in chocolate sauce were the words, 'Will you marry me?' She looked at me and smile then said 'Yes!'
