How We Met

March 7th, 2015 & November 7th, 2015

David and Sarah met for the first time on March 7th, 2015 at a bar in Ballard called Shelter Lounge. David was out with friends celebrating his birthday, and Sarah was out with some of her friends for a Girl's Night. When Sarah walked into the bar, she noticed one of her college friends talking to David and one of his friends so she walked up to say hi and introduce herself. She immediately thought David was cute. When she found out it was his birthday, she offered to buy him a drink. They spent the rest of the night talking and found out they have much in common. They bonded over studying abroad in college, sports, snowboarding, music, and realized they grew up very close to each other. So close that they may have even taken swimming lessons together at the local pool, played soccer at the same park, or even shopped at the same mall. When the time came for Sarah to leave, she saw that David had become somewhat shy, so she decided she'd make the first move by kissing him goodbye. Sarah had left and no phone numbers were exchanged and no glass slipper left. David would later tell his friends how he had met this great girl at the bar but had messed up in not getting Sarah's number at the end of night. Nine months later, on November 7th, 2015, Sarah was at the SAME bar, with two girlfriends having a chill night and grabbing a drink when who should walk in but David once again. Sarah knew right away that she had seen him before but she couldn't remember how. It was only after a few minutes of confusion and holding an intense gaze at him that Sarah was able to recall meeting David 9 months prior at this same place. Being the blunt person Sarah is, she went up to David and asked him if he remembered her and he said "Yes, I do!" They talked the rest of the night and when Sarah had to leave again, this time she couldn't help but tease him as she asked, "Are you going to ask for my number this time?" And he did. David and Sarah do not believe in fate but for whatever reason out of their control, they were suppose to meet. Their love story is truly something that would make for a great Rom-Com from the 90's.

The Proposal

An unforgettable trip to Los Cabos, Mexico

A Summer trip to Mexico with their friends, Joni and Travis, presented an opportunity for David to propose. The main purpose of the trip was to celebrate Joni's birthday and a month before they left, David spoke with Joni and Travis to see if it would be okay if he proposed on the Friday after her birthday. She happily agreed and the three of them set out to plan the grand event. The time for the trip came and the friends set off but little did they know, things were not going to go as smoothly as David had hoped for. When they arrived to their hotel room, their was a sash on the door with the words "Just Married!" inscribed on it even though no one had indicated this was the occasion when they booked the hotel. The next thing to go wrong was with the location the proposal was supposed to take place. David had planned on proposing to Sarah on a sunset dinner cruise but just two days before they boarded, the charter for the boat had to cancel the voyage because of damage received from the windy weather at the marina. He was at a loss for what to do next and started to become depressed, which Sarah had started to catch on to. However, the friends that they had traveled with would not let him give up hope just yet. The next day, Travis and David went to the Costco Travel concierge to see what deals they had on private cruises and were able to book a private pontoon boat tour to "El Arco", Cabo's most famous arches. This turned out to be the best choice in the long run as they got the best view out of all the boats. Due to the pontoon boat being smaller, they were able to navigate much closer to the Arches which set up a breathtaking scene for David to pop the question. For all of the things that went wrong initially, the proposal went off perfectly! Sarah was as surprised as could be and after coming back to her senses, said "Yes" to her future husband and they celebrated by watching the sunset over the city of Cabo. As flawless as the proposal was, there was one last thing to go wrong for them during the celebrations that followed. Both Sarah, David, and Joni all got food poisoning after dinner that same night... The details of which are better left unsaid but again, helped serve to make that trip an unforgettable one for the happy couple.
