David was the bold man Riana had prayed for - one who took a leap of faith and sent the first message on CatholicMatch. What began as message exchanges soon grew into phone calls, FaceTime conversations, and eventually their first meeting for mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church, a moment that felt both peaceful and perfectly guided. On David's second visit, David came to celebrate Riana's 40th birthday, unknowingly her parent's planned a surprise celebration with many of her family and friends. In one joyful afternoon, he was lovingly introduced to the people who mean the most to her. He fit in so naturally and effortlessly, as if he had always been part of the family. After the excitement, Riana needed a little time to decompress (an introvert at heart), and they did so in the most meaningful way - by going to Mass together at Holy Family Catholic Church. Despite living in two different states, they were committed to growing their relationship. They made time to see each other at least two weekends a month and were blessed to celebrate many holidays together. Distance strengthened their appreciation for one another and deepened their trust in God's timing. One of their greatest blessings is sharing their Catholic faith. Attending Mass together, spending time in Eucharistic Adoration, and praying side by side. Their engagement came during a Christmas filled with faith, family, and joyful surprises. The family attended 11pm mass together at San Jose Catholic Church, then returned to Riana's parents' home to celebrate Noche Buena. As the night continued, everyone gathered to open Christmas gifts. Riana had one final present to open- one that would matter the most. Inside was a jewelry box, and nestled within it, an engagement ring. David then got down on one knee and asked Riana for her hand in marriage. Completely surprised - with a hair claw still pierced on top of her head - Riana was overcome with tears of joy as she said yes! The celebration continued as they shared the happy news with family and friends through phone calls, FaceTime, and joyful visits to loved ones' homes. They are deeply grateful for the prayers, love, and support of their family and friends - support that has meant more to them than words can express. With joyful hearts, David and Riana look forward to celebrating their marriage and sharing this very special day with those who have walked alongside them.
