As the good millennials we are, we aren't afraid to say we met online. David's subscription to eHarmony had just expired in the summer of 2011, and he thought about staying single for a bit longer. In a bit of serendipity, he received an email offering a free month of the service. So David signed back up. In the first batch of matches was Rena's profile. David was studying Hebrew at Middlebury College at the time and was prohibited from speaking English for seven weeks, a rule he gladly broke when talking online with Rena. Finally meeting in person back in Tempe, Arizona, our first date was at a little bistro, and after a three-hour chat over wine and pizza, we knew there would never be another first date again!
While living in the United Kingdom, we took a two month tour of Europe. We traveled through France, The Netherlands, Croatia, Belgium, Austria, Italy, and Poland. While enjoying the osterias, cicchetti, and vino of Venice, we took a gondola ride through the canals of the ancient city. While passing under the Bridge of Sighs, the gondolier mentioned that anyone who kisses under the bridge will have everlasting love. Rena leaned in for a kiss, but missed her mark. David was already down on one knee holding open a box with the ring in it. Without waiting for any question, Rena screamed "yes!" and put the ring on her finger. We left Venice for Austria the next day looking forward to the rest of our life together.
