David had the perfect proposal plan. Plan A: May 26th, 2025. 5 PM. The top of the Ann Arbor clocktower. A romantic moment, sealed with a serenade from a carillonist in on the plan. Flawless. Until the carillonist got locked out. Enter: Plan B. Hastily cobbled together. Crashed and burned. Plan C? Ambitious. Complicated. Doomed within minutes. Plan D… well, no one remembers what Plan D even was, and that tells you everything. So, naturally, we arrive at Plan E — the “accidental masterpiece.” Plan E: May 27th, 2025 – A Park in Dexter With hopes and dreams (but no functioning Plan A-D), David pivoted. He packed a picnic and suggested a sweet, innocent outing to the park — a little dinner, a little teaching Emma how to ride her bike. Totally normal. Becca, who had spent the day before suspiciously side-eyeing everything David did, had officially let her guard down. Mission accomplished. After enjoying the picnic and cheering Emma on as she found her balance, David paused mid-walk to “tie his shoe.” Spoiler: His shoe was already tied. Instead, he pulled out two dozen red roses from the hiking backpack he’d lugged along under the very believable excuse of, “just in case we needed a blanket later.” Becca turned around to find David down on one knee. Before he could launch into the beautiful speech he had practiced over and over in his head, Becca blurted out: “Are you serious?” Which, in a very Becca fashion, was immediately followed by: “YES!” The Story So Far Their first date was August 3, 2022. They became official on October 9, 2022. After many dates, plenty of laughter, some tears, and countless memories — David proposed on May 27, 2025.
