We met at the University of Texas at Arlington. David looked at me with his majestic face and it was love at first sight! He asked me what I thought of the economics test and our forever conversation started from there. We formed a strong friendship filled with fun, travel, laughter, and love.
We had spent a great fun filled weekend at the 2018 NFL Draft in Dallas, Texas. I had spent the whole time trying to find the right moment to ask Rebecca to marry me. I was so scared that I would lose the ring that I kept putting my hands in my pocket; reassuring myself that it was still there. Unfortunately, the right moment didn't present itself and we left the draft without a proposal. In the early morning of April 29, I awoke to a rumble in my belly and a ring in my pocket. Suddenly the idea came to me! Zachary and I were off on the quest to find a perfect sugary breakfast treat that would hold my future. Sleepy and still in bed, Rebecca was none the wiser, as we came into the room wishing her a good morning. In my hand I held the circular chocolate goodness and in the middle my heart. Zachary quickly panned the camera around, bright flash gleaming down on Rebecca who was confused and still half asleep. I stepped to one side of the bed, got down on one knee, and offered her the donut. She smiled because it was her favorite chocolate donut with sprinkles and whipped cream filled with pudding. She quickly sat up and took notice that the sprinkles weren't the only toppings on that delicious donut. Still wiping the sleep from her eyes, they quickly became open wide and a great big smile filled her face. She plucked the heart shaped ring from the center of the donut and looked at me. As she licked the cream from the sides of the ring, I was finally able to ask the question that I had been waiting to ask, “Rebecca Renee Holmes will you marry me?”
