In May 2021, two stressed out teachers who were wrapping up a year of virtual/hybrid/in person teaching matched on Bumble. Nyssa initiated by calling out David for having a class together at Ohio State. Although David denied this (and still does), Nyssa was (and still is) convinced that she knew him. How many history majors named David who were talkative, witty, wore fishing shirts, and looked exactly like him could there be at Ohio State? So Nyssa and David met at Hofbrauhaus on May 15,2021 to hash it out in person. And the rest, as they say, is history... Over the next four years, Nyssa and David laughed, cried, problem-solved, and celebrated together. They shared their high moments together, including new jobs, a new home, weddings of loved ones. They also endured low moments together, showing support and strength for the one who needed it most. Whether it’s traveling to new places, cooking together, or just staying in with their favorite shows, they’ve learned that love isn’t just about big gestures — it’s about choosing each other every single day. And that is how they began the next chapter in their relationship. That's right, people, it's the proposal story! David was trying to curate a picture perfect moment over Nyssa's spring break, but Nyssa was on his trail when he was taking a personal day "just because". So David had to pivot. On Thursday, March 20, 2025, David took a sick day from school and Nyssa made up for his missing hours through parent/teacher conferences that night. The second Nyssa got home, she changed into comfy clothes, threw up her hair, and put on her glasses. When she came downstairs, David asked her to check on dinner that was in the oven. After doing so, she turned around and there he was! It was comfortable, authentic, intimate, and definitely unexpected. It was perfect! And now, surrounded by the people we love most, we can’t wait to start the next chapter… as husband and wife.
