It all started with a swipe... Their story started just before Christmas 2022, when their paths crossed on a dating app and David messaged Natalie saying, "You look like you could be in a Hillsong music video, and that's absolutely a good thing". David had just moved 4 hours away from his family and friends in Wisconsin to start his new job in Bloomington. Natalie was commuting weekly from college back to her home town, Bloomington, also for her job. They just so happened to catch each other at the right time. They met for the first time at a local coffee shop and spent hours talking and sharing playlists for David's commute back to Wisconsin for the holidays. After they parted ways for the day, both of them kept finding excuses to hang out for the next four days before David went home to spend Christmas with his family. Who knew that the week they met, Natalie helped David pick out gifts for what would be her future in-laws, that she'd never met, just so she could talk more with David! They did long distance for a little bit before Natalie graduated college and moved to Bloomington full time. Over the last two years, they have been through so many crazy adventures - David somehow agreeing to keep Natalie's 8 week old kitten until she got her apartment after just two months of dating, David sitting with Natalie's family when Natalie's dad had a 14-hour brain surgery for a tumor, navigating Natalie's change in schooling and career paths, finding our board-game-loving, forever friends, and having a home together with our two fur babies, Echo and Kona. It wasn't always easy, but they managed to always find a way to laugh their way through the chaos of life and come out stronger together on the other side. In May 2025, David proposed to Natalie on a Mediterranean cruise, surrounded by their friends. After a tour of a chocolate factory and lunch along the waterway in a small town close to Marseilles, France, and after David's frantic search for one of our friends to film it while trying to be so nonchalant (it's okay, Natalie still had no idea what was happening), David popped the question.
