David and Medha met on a dating app (“Coffee Meets Bagel”) in 2017 after Medha’s friends forced her to make a profile. (Thank you, friends.) At the time, she was at UCLA pursuing her doctorate in statistics. As much as she enjoyed their first date, she ultimately decided she should focus on her studies. She only agreed to go on a second date because David had already bought tickets to a magic show. (Classic.) Luckily, her commitment to monastic solitude didn’t stick. In late 2019, Medha started a position as a post-doctoral scholar at The Pennsylvania State University, beginning the “long distance” phase of their relationship. In March 2020, Medha flew to Los Angeles for spring break and due to… “world events”… never flew back. Thus concluded the long distance phase of the relationship, and thus began the “no distance” phase. Fortunately things went well, and in September 2021 David asked Medha to marry him.
